The Fine Arts Department is proud to welcome you to the Senior Thesis Exhibition Merry-Go-Round. The exhibiting artists - Lizi Budagashvili, Riley Farlow, and Kika Fleissner - commemorate childhood nostalgia and sentimentality. 

 

Riley Farlow explores her personal connection to nature and celebrates childlike wonder through printmaking and sculptural installation. She also works with natural elements such as ethically sourced insects and foliage. The ethereal and ghostly atmosphere in Lizi Budagashvili’s paintings portray how she sees memories after multiple layers of removal. She associates childhood with home, which she redefines through her distant landscapes. Kika Fleissner’s paintings and prints depict her memories of growing up among the Dolomites in northern Italy. These depictions of never-ending mountainous horizons represent her deep yearning for belonging and comfort while living overseas. 

 

Together, the three artists take refuge in nature and create scenes that reminisce about their past.
