January 30 - February 15, 2018

The Ringling College’s Fine Art and Illustration departments are pleased to present Will Cotton: Paintings, Prints and Drawing in the Crossley Gallery.

Will Cotton is a painter’s painter. Working primarily with only five colors he creates lush paintings full of vibrancy and life. Originally inspired by the board gameCandyland, Will paints utopian landscapes and portraits, composed of sugary desserts and candies, often inhabited by female figures. His work explores our relationship with gluttony, beauty, desire and indulgence. Widely recognized work of his includes the 2010 Katy Perry music video for “California Gurls,” for which he served as the artistic director.

The exhibition will include more than a dozen works ranging from oil paintings on linen and paper as well as sketches and prints. Along with finished works, the exhibition will emphasize his process and show how he goes about creating his work. Additionally, his monograph book Will Cotton: Paintings and Works on Paper will be available for signing and purchase.

Artist's Reception: Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
