WHAT WE LEAVE BEHIND

Stephanie Katsnelson, Ariella H. Melendez, Anastasia Theofanous

March 23 - 27, 2026

Artist’s Reception: Friday, March 27, 2026

The Fine Arts Department of Ringling College of Art & Design is pleased to present What We Leave Behind at Crossley Gallery.

What We Leave Behind explores the intersections between memory, place, and culture. Each artist touches on the importance of experience, while investigating what happens when the prevalence of these moments are spared. Anastasia Theofanous presents metaphors of our connection to the environment by using deteriorating visuals of urban landscapes and organic materials in her work. Stephanie Katsnelson emphasizes the fragility of tradition through her display of sentimental and culturally significant objects using printmaking and mixed media. Ariella H. Melendez navigates the interrelation between nature and human experience, examining how a sense of place emerges through representation and suggestion. This exhibition calls for the reflection of what we leave behind in our lives when our attention is swayed away from our surroundings, whether it be people, objects, or landscape.
