The Fine Arts Department of Ringling College of Art + Design is pleased to present Big Girls Don't Cry
‘Girlhood’ is the quiet shared bond that binds women together. A blend between the sentimental need to reclaim your inner child and the pivotal moments that makeup ‘being a girl’. The constant expectations upheld by society for women are enforced through everyday acts, even through the simplest form of being told to “put on a smile”.
It is important to elevate the perspective of feminine artists and highlight the sisterhood between us. The artists showcased in Big Girls Don’t Cry explore what it means to be a woman today and display the different aspects of girlhood revealing its beauty, nostalgic moments, and political pressures of being a girl.
